This journey began as a very personal one. For years, I defined my relationship with my hair by what it wasn’t. I struggled with the quiet frustration of having fine hair and sensitive, eczema-prone skin. My skin and hair felt like separate challenges to manage rather than parts of a connected whole. Hair felt like something to disguise, not an ecosystem to nurture.
Everything changed while living in East Asia, where I discovered a completely different philosophy of beauty and wellbeing. Hair care began at the scalp. Hair spas were therapeutic rituals centred around balance, nourishment and long-term health. It was there that I realised healthy hair begins with healthy skin, and both are deeply connected to overall wellbeing.
Returning to England, I found inspiration closer to home. Many of the botanicals used in those rituals were growing in the British countryside around me. I wanted to combine ancient wellness practices with modern formulations, creating products that respected sensitive scalps while delivering results for all hair types.
My first collaborator was my mother, and together we spent months blending, testing and refining formulas by hand. From those early experiments came our pH-balancing daily mist, Scalp Silk, our first product and the foundation of the brand.
As H Salon evolved, so did our vision. Our customers were not only seeking better hair and scalp care, they were embracing a more intentional approach to wellbeing. They were prioritising movement, recovery and self care, looking for products that complemented an active lifestyle.
